Follow the 7 tips in pregnancy period
Health and Fitness 4
1. Avoid smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol
Smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol may harm the baby's brain development. Smoking cigarettes and consuming alcohol during pregnancy can cause low birth weight babies, premature births, stillbirths, miscarriage, and even death. If you smoke cigarettes, quit immediately. If you drink alcohol, do not consume any alcoholic beverages at all.
2. Take prenatal vitamins
Prenatal vitamins help ensure that your body gets enough folic acid, iron, and other nutrients. Taking prenatal vitamins helps prevent neural tube defects (NTDs) in your unborn child. NTDs affect about 1 out of every 500 babies born in the United States. Pregnant women who take prenatal vitamins have lower rates of having babies with these defects than those who don't.
3. Eat well
Eat a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, fish, and dairy products. You should eat foods high in folate, vitamin B12, and omega-3 fatty acids. These nutrients promote fetal brain development.
4. Get plenty of rest
Sleep is essential for pregnant women. Sleep deprivation increases the risk of preterm labor and low birth weight. · Try to get seven to eight hours of sleep each night.
5. Exercise regularly
Exercise helps keep your blood pressure down and reduces the risk of gestational diabetes. Walking, swimming, dancing, yoga, and Pilates are good forms of exercise.
6. Don't overheat
Keep your home temperature between 68°F and 77°F. Too much heat can increase the risk of miscarriage and premature labor.
7. Stay away from drugs and illegal substances
Drug use during pregnancy can lead to serious problems for both mother and baby. Drugs can damage the developing fetus' central nervous system, causing mental retardation and physical disabilities. Illegal drugs can also harm the baby's brain and nervous system.
